It Begins ... Linda Rogers Gets Primary Challenger After Rejecting Indiana Redistricting
Dr. Brian Schmutzler announces bid for Indiana Senate District 11.
The ‘Traitorous 21’ were the Indiana Senate Republicans who rejected Indiana redistricting. Among them was Senator Linda Rogers.
TPUSA and other local Indiana groups vowed to oppose the Republicans who opposed redistricting in the primary. For Linda Rogers, that time has come.
Dr. Brian Schmutzler, a physician and lifelong Indiana resident, has launched a campaign for the Indiana State Senate in District 11. The seat is currently held by Republican Sen. Linda Rogers.
Schmutzler, who describes himself as “Christian first, conservative second, Republican when the party reflects Christian conservative values,” said his campaign will center on three themes: faith, family and freedom. He said his religious beliefs inform his positions on individual liberty, parental rights and personal responsibility.
Dr. Schmutzler also provided information on his stance on education in the state and his alignment with the ‘MAHA’ movement.
He said certain lawmakers have “lost touch” with the priorities and concerns of Hoosiers and vowed to restore accountability in the State Senate.
“I’m not running to become a politician. I’m running to serve,” Schmutzler said.
While Indiana Senate Republicans rejected redistricting, Democrats promised to continue pursuing aggressively gerrymandered maps.
So far, Indiana is the only state to reject redistricting mid-cycle. Six states have completed redistricting, and five more are considering it. The latest is Virginia, which is moving to take 4 of the 5 GOP seats. Indiana would have potentially gained 2 seats for the GOP.
Former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder is the chair of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. Holder thanked the 21 Indiana Senate Republicans, including Linda Rogers, for their ‘courage’ in rejecting redistricting.
The NDRC boasts it is the “first organization of its kind: A Democratic group that brings together major party organizations on a multi-cycle, state-by-state redistricting strategy.
Naturally, the far left was happy about this defeat for Republicans.
Participants in the initial fundraising pitch reportedly included representatives from AFSCME, the AFL-CIO, the National Education Association, EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, and America Votes.
The League of Conservation Voters includes affiliate Indiana Conservation Voters. They are a far-left environmentalist organization that ran a six-figure ad campaign in Indiana rejecting redistricting.
This is going to be a very interesting election cycle.
